Sacred Heart
Oil on Aluminum

The piece discusses the dichotomy between classical and contemporary visual application, specifically the contrast in belief and significance within the same imagery. The Sacred Heart is etched into a field of luscious reds, violent, seductive, luxurious; all the things that it never meant to symbolize though inevitably became an example of. The Church and all its dwellings, the hidden and obverted, the silenced and veiled truths; glazes of oil mimic life.
